آزادی بیان یا بی مسئولیتی؟

مثلی ایرانی می گوید: یک دیوانه یک سنگ بدرون چاه می اندازد، صد عاقل نمی توانند بیرون آورند.

چاپ کاریکاتوری ناخوشایند از پیامبری که صدها میلیون نفر او را گرامی می دارند، توسط یک روزنامه دانمارکی، برخلاف موضع دولت دانمارک، اثبات آزادی بیان بشمار نمی آید، بلکه عدم احساس مسئولیت اجتماعی است. اگر این آزادی بیان است، پس فیلمهای جنسی کودکان را هم می شود آزادی بیان شناخت.

در تلاش برای رسیدن به آزادی آرمانی، برخی جوامع غربی کمی زیاده روی کرده اند. آنها باید برداشت خود را از آزادی های اجتماعی بازنگری کنند و به هنجارهای معمول تر جامعه بشری بازگردند.

برخی اصول بنیادین که برجامعه بشری حاکم است، باید از تهاجم مصون باشند. نخست، خمیرمایه خانواده است که هسته وجودی تمدن را تشکیل میدهد. بدون تشکیل و دوام خانواده، هیچ تمدنی نمی تواند دوام یابد. احترام به بنگاه خانواده همگرایی و چسبندگی لازم را برای یک جامعه متمدن فراهم می آورد. اصلی که هالیوود در بی توجهی، با اصرار به نمایش روابط مرد و زن بعنوان یک نیاز آنی جسمی، در حال تخریب است. تصور کنید جامعه ای را که در آن پیوند عاطفی میان مرد و زن و میان آنها و فرزندانشان نباشد.

اصل دوم احترام به ایمان مردم است. تصور کنید اگر به خانواده خود، وکیل خود، نماینده خود، آرمانهای خود و یا هر امتیاز دیگر جامعه بشری بی ایمان باشید. تصور کنید اگر ایمانی در وجودتان نباشد تا به آن اتکا کنید و به آن روی آورید وقتی در تردید هستید، مستاصل هستید و نیاز به پشتیبانی روحی دارید. تصور کنید اگر دانش کنونی شما پایان دانش بود و چیزی فراسوی آن متصور نبود و چیزی برای کشف کردن وجود نداشت. تصور کنید اگر اصطلاحاتی مانند "به امید خدا"، بخاطر خدا" و "خدا نگهدار" که از آغاز تاریخ بشر تا کنون کاربرد همگانی داشته، بی معنا باشند. این معنای ایمان است. ایمان را از مردم بگیرید و شما شاهد هرج و مرج و خودنابودی تمدن خواهید بود.

ایمان در چارچوب دین هویت می یابد. هرکس به دین خودش. برای اینکه ایمان رنگی بخود گیرد که آدمی بتواند آنرا درک کند و هویت خود را به آن پیوند دهد تا از بالاترین پشتیبانی روحی برخوردار شود، دین آمد. برای اینکه دین چهره ای انسانی بخود بگیرد، پیامبران آمدند. پیامبران، بنابراین، مایه اطمینان در دسترس بودن "امید نهایی" برای بشر هستند. پیامبران بینش آنچه هستند که زندگی  باید باشد.

پیامبران که انگاره دین و نیایش وجودی والاتر را برای ما آوردند، به هدف بسیار مهم دیگری هم خدمت کردند. آنان علیه استبداد انسان بر انسان و علیه استثمار انسان توسط انسان و علیه فرمانرایان خودکامه که فقط بعلت قدرت قتاله ای که دارند خود را موجودی برتر از همه انسان های دیگر می شمردند، برخاستند. دین به ما می گوید که هیچ انسانی بالاتر از انسان دیگر نیست، که فقط "یک" وجود بالاتر از همه است که نمی توان او را دید یا لمس کرد، زیرا ما نادان و ناتوان هستیم. او همه انسانها را برابر آفریده و او "تنها" فرمانروای "مطلق" است، نه هیچ انسانی که او آفریده. انسان ها حق حکومت بر یکدیگر را ندارند مگر در عدالت و با رعایت قانونهای "او"، و او تنها داور است. برخلاف دیکتاتورها که فقط می گیرند و هرگز نمی دهند، او فقط می دهد و هرگز نمی گیرد. به این دلیل من فکر می کنم که دین در آغاز بعنوان ابزاری ضد دیکتاتوری برای رهایی مردم از بندگی و بردگی عرضه شده بوده است.  

هرچند که دین در دست واسطه های خودساخته غالبا" در یک متن دیکتارمآبانه به مردم عرضه می شود، ولی خود دین حکومت فردی را مطرود می داند، مگر برای خود خدا. این پیامی است که ابرمردانی چون زرتشت، عیسا، بودا و محمد آمدند تا به ما برسانند. بی احترامی به این انسانهای برگزیده، بی احترامی به بشریت به عنوان هوشمندترین آفریده، و به جامعه بشری بعنوان مهمترین دستاورد بشر است.

معنای حقوق بشر، آزادی بی حد و مرز نیست. هیچ کس نباید بتواند با گفتار یا کردار به آزادیهای دیگران، باورهای دیگران، ایمان دیگران و به حق دیگران به خودگرامیداشت، تجاوز کند.

Freedom of Expression or Social Irresponsibility?

A Persian proverb says that "an idiot drops a stone in a well a hundred wise men can't pull out."

     Publishing by a Danish newspaper of an offensive caricature of a prophet revered by hundreds of millions of people, contrary to what Danish government claimed, is not "freedom of expression" by a long shot. It is merely social irresponsibility. If this is freedom of expression, then child pornography is also freedom of expression.

     In quest for ultimate freedom, some Western societies may've gone a bit too far. They should re-examine their concept of social freedoms and re-adjust to a more commonly acceptable norm. You can go too far on either side of the scale.

     There are few principles making up the foundation of the human society which must not be crossed. One is the essence of family as the physical nucleus of civilization. Without family formation and duration, no civilization can endure. Respect for the institution of family provides cohesiveness for the civil society. Something Hollywood has been carelessly destroying by portraying man-woman relationship as strictly physical and an expression of immediate need. Imagine a society without bondage between men and women and between them and their off springs.

     Second principle is respect for one's faith. Imagine having no faith in your spouse, children, attorney, representative, or in your cause or any attribute of the human society. Imagine if your didn't have any faith to hang on to, to turn to and to seek help from when you are down, in doubt, desperate or in need of moral support you can always count on. Imagine feeling that your current knowledge is the end and there is nothing beyond, nothing to discover, nothing to look forward to. Imagine if the expressions "God willing" and "for God's sake" and "God be with you" so commonly used by men throughout the ages had no meaning. This is called faith. You take it away from people and you have anarchy and self destruction.

     Faiths are identified through religions. To each his own. To give faith a color man can identify and understand, there came religion, connecting people to the ultimate moral support and the eternal hope. To give religion a human face, there came the prophets. Prophets are, therefore, the essence of human assurance of accessibility of the eternal hope. Prophets are the visions of what can be.

     Prophets brought us the idea of religion and worship of a higher being, serving another very important purpose. They rose against tyranny of man and against human exploitation by absolute rulers who by force of killing power considered themselves the ultimate beings and above all subjects. Religion professed that no man is above another. There is only "One" being above all and which you cannot see or touch, because you are weak, ignorant and helpless. He created all humans as equals, and He is the absolute ruler not any man he created. You shall not rule each other except in justice and with obedience to his rules, and He is the final judge. Unlike despots, He only gives and never takes. That is why I think that religion was originally meant to be an anti-dictatorial instrument trying to free people from slavery to physically powerful.

     Although religion in the hands of self-appointed go-betweens often times' been presented in a dictatorial context, but religion itself rules out any one-man rule except for God himself. This is the message great super-men like Zoroaster, Moses, Christ, Buda and Mohammad came to give. Disrespecting such chosen people is disrespecting human being as an intelligent specie and human society as the most significant human achievement.

     Human rights do not mean unrestricted personal freedoms. No one can infringe by word or deed on the rights of others, their beliefs, their faiths and their right for self-respect.

     The self-serving action of the Danish cartoonist shows how an individual's irrational lust for sensationalism can be damaging to the human society when the means of bondage among a substantial portion of the human society is targeted.
